All about PSR leases: information and advice for residents

Signing a lease in a private seniors’ residence is an important step that marks the beginning of a new chapter in life. At ACROQ, we believe that the well‑being of seniors in PSRs depends on clear and transparent information. This is why we collaborate with various ACROQ partners to offer you the necessary tools and guide you calmly through this contractual world.

The role of the Tribunal administratif du logement in PSRs

As a resident, you benefit from specific legal protections guaranteed by the Tribunal administratif du logement (TAL) in PSRs. These rights aim to ensure your daily safety:

  • The right to respect: you and your loved ones must be treated with courtesy and dignity by all staff.
  • The right to remain in the premises: the residence cannot evict you without a formal decision from the tribunal, even if you refuse a rent increase.
  • The peaceful enjoyment of your home: you have the right to privacy and to receive visitors without schedule constraints.
  • The quality of services: any service mentioned in your lease must be provided consistently.

Resources for seniors in PSRs: included or tailor‑made services

One of the unique aspects of living in a residence is the management of personal services (meals, maintenance, care). To promote the well‑being of seniors in PSRs, you generally have two options to enjoy them:

  1. Services included in the lease are billed each month at a fixed rate. Note that once included, the residence is not required to accept their withdrawal during the term of the lease.
  2. Tailor‑made services are at your disposal and can be used as needed. Although more flexible, their rates can be modified by management during the year.
