About the Association des Comités de Résidents Officielle du Québec (ACROQ)
The Association des Comités de Résidents Officielle du Québec (ACROQ) was born out of an urgent need for representation of seniors living in PSRs across Québec. Our mission is clear: to bring seniors together, keep them informed and mobilize them to make life in a PSR a dynamic and fulfilling chapter.
Our history and mission
The ACROQ is the only provincial association dedicated exclusively to defending the rights of residents in private seniors’ residences (PSR), their caregivers and their residence life committees (RLC). Since our founding in 2020, we have grown from 4 to over 2,000 members, including more than 150 RLCs, affirming our essential role as a seniors’ protection organization. In fact, ACROQ indirectly represents more than 100,000 seniors living in PSRs.
Our mission is to promote the rights of seniors living in PSRs, their caregivers, and their RLCs with the government and PSR managers to ensure well‑treatment.
Our goal
ACROQ’s goal is to work with residents, their caregivers, and PSR managers to ensure the well-treatment of seniors and protect their living conditions.
As a seniors’ association dedicated to PSR residents, we position ourselves as a key player in fostering collaboration among residents, caregivers, and PSR managers to build a culture of well‑treatment within PSRs and protect seniors’ living conditions. Our work stands on three strategic pillars:
Well-treatment
Promoting respect for seniors, their needs, choices, and rights; promoting fairness in the relationship between seniors and PSR owners; and providing real solutions to the challenges they face.
Collaboration
Bringing together all residence life committees (RLCs), residents and their caregivers to work with PSR managers in providing seniors with healthy and dignified living conditions.
Representation
Working with PSR managers and various government bodies to request the regulatory changes needed to ensure the well-being and safety of our seniors.
